Antonio Senzatela Rondón plays as a pitcher for the Colorado Rockies in Major League Baseball. Senzatela comes from Valencia in Venezuela and was born on January 21, 1995. He debuted in the MLB in 2017.
After being drafted by the Colorado Rockies as an amateur free agency, Senzatela made his professional debut in 2012 with the Rockies of the Dominican Summer League.
Senzatela competed for the Asheville Tourists of the Class A South Atlantic League and helped the team win the league with a 15-2 win-loss record and 3.11 ERA. Senzatela was selected by MiLB.com as one of the Rockies Organization All-Stars for 2014.
He was ranked as the Rockies’ 11th top prospect prior to the 2015 season by MLB.com. After the 2015 season, the Rockies added Senzatela to their 40-man roster.
In 2016, Senzatela worked as a pitcher for the Hartford Yard Goats of the Class AA Eastern League.
Senzatela made his major league debut on April 6 after being promoted to the Rockies’ roster for Opening Day in 2017. After posting a 3-1 record with a 2.81 ERA in five starts in April, Senzatela was named the National League’s Rookie of the Month.
Senzatela gave up Miguel Cabrera’s 3,000th hit on April 23, 2022, during a game against the Detroit Tigers. On the play, a single was hit towards the right field. Sadly, the Rockies would go on to lose 13-0.
