Avery Williams, who hails from Pasadena and played high school football for St. Francis High School in La Caada Flintridge and then JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, has signed a four-year rookie contract with the Falcons.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported, citing Williams’ agent David Canter, that the contract is worth $3.7 million plus a $240,000 bonus.
According to the source, the cornerback/returner, who was selected in the fifth round (183rd overall) out of Boise State, participated in the Falcons’ offseason program and worked out primarily at the cornerback position.
In total, the Falcons signed five players for the 2021 draft class, and he was one of those players selected.
Williams, a four-year cornerback and return specialist for Boise State played 48 games while standing at 5 feet 9 inches and weighing 195 pounds. Over the course of his career, he recorded 152 tackles, 26 pass breakups, four interceptions, and five fumble recoveries.
Williams, who is 24 years old, has a combined total of 38 kick returns for 1,042 yards and three touchdowns on special teams. In addition, Williams had 82 punt returns for 948 yards and six scores.
