Standing at 2.02 meters and weighing an unknown weight, Roberts-Smith, Benjamin VC, MG (born November 1, 1978) is an Australian businessman and former soldier in the Australian Army.

Roberts-Smith is the most decorated serving member of the Australian Defence Force, having received the Victoria Cross (VC) in 2011 and the Medal for Gallantry (MG) in 2006.

In 2012, he was also recognized for his leadership as a patrol commander with a Commendation for Distinguished Service.



In 2013, Roberts-Smith left the army to pursue a degree in business at the University of Queensland.

In 2015, he was named deputy general manager of Seven Queensland, a rural television network. He went on to become the general manager of the regional network as well as the metropolis station Seven Brisbane.

In 2017, an independent inquiry investigating “issues of criminal conduct affecting (Australia’s) Special Operations Task Group in Afghanistan” questioned Roberts-actions Smith’s in Afghanistan.

The Australian Federal Police has been investigating Roberts-Smith for war crimes since June 2018. In August 2018, Roberts-Smith filed defamation proceedings against Nine Entertainment publications The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The Canberra Times, with the help of a legal team hired by Seven Network owner Kerry Stokes.

She also named each of the three journalists involved in reporting the alleged incidents.  In June 2021, the trial began in the Federal Court of Australia in Sydney.
