Venezuelan professional baseball shortstop with the Cleveland Guardians, Brayan Hommy Rocchio was born on January 13, 2001. The Cleveland Indians inked Rocchio as a free agent from abroad in July 2017.
Rocchio made his professional debut in 2018 with the Indians of the Dominican Summer League.
After hitting.323 in 25 games for the DSL Indians, Rocchio was promoted to the Arizona League Indians. He played in 35 games for the AZL Indians and had an even better season, batting.343 in those contests.
In his first season as a professional, Rocchio played in 60 games and hit.335 in both levels. He spent his whole 2019 season playing Low-A baseball for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
He appeared in 69 games and had a batting average of.250. Due to the minor league season being postponed in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, he did not participate in a minor league game.
Due to the pandemic, Rocchio missed the whole 2020 season, but he showed very little rust when he began the 2021 season in High-A.
He blasted an at-the-time career-high nine home runs while playing for the Lake County Captains as a 19-year-old, slashing.265/.337/.428.
On November 19, 2021, the newly renamed Cleveland Guardians added Rocchio to their 40-man roster.
