Dane Tyrez Jackson is a cornerback for the Buffalo Bills (NFL) organization. Although Jackson was an all-state basketball player for Cornell High School, the school that he attended, he played high school football at Quaker Valley. This was due to the fact that Cornell High School did not have a football team.
On June 24, 2014, he announced his intention to play college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers, picking them over Bowling Green and Duquesne. After being offered a scholarship by the then-Pitt coach Paul Chryst, who had seen Jackson play at a Pitt prospect camp, he decided to accept it the next day.
Jackson moved to cornerback with the Pitt Panthers after having spent his high school career as a quarterback. He did not play during his first year as a freshman and instead was redshirted.
Throughout his redshirt freshman year, he played largely in a reserve capacity. However, during his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons at Pitt, he started every game. In his senior year at Pitt, he led the team in pass breakups with 12, finished with 43 tackles, including three for a loss, an interception, and a sack assist and was tied for the lead in sack assists.
Following his senior year, Jackson was selected to the all-ACC second team and participated in the 2020 Senior Bowl. He also received an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl.
