Johnny Ray Holland is an American gridiron football coach and former player who was born on March 11, 1965. He is the linebackers coach for the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers (NFL).
From 1987 through 1993, Holland was a linebacker for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League. He’s a member of the Texas A&M University Hall of Fame, the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame, and the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.
In 1987, the Green Bay Packers selected Holland in the second round of the draft. While playing with Green Bay, he had six seasons in which he had over 100 tackles. After the 1993 season, he announced his retirement from the game.
Holland began his coaching career as a defensive quality control coach for the Green Bay Packers from 1995 to 1997, following his retirement as a linebacker for the Green Bay Packers.
In 1998, he was promoted to special teams coach, and in 1999, he was promoted to linebacker coach. Following back-to-back NFC championships in 1995 and 1996, as well as an NFL championship in Super Bowl XXXI, he helped lead the Packers to back-to-back NFC crowns.
