Michael Lorenzen is an American-born professional baseball player. He plays as a pitcher and outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels baseball team. Michael played baseball non-professionally at Fullerton Union High School in Fullerton, California and the California State University.
When he was in college, he was nominated for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award. He also played collegiate summer baseball with the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2012. Baseball America ranked him as the 52nd best prospect in 2013.
That year, the Cincinnati Reds drafted him in the 2013 MLB draft. He signed with them and was immediately assigned to the Arizona League Reds to make his professional debut. He also played for the Dayton Dragons, Bakersfield Blaze, and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos that same season.
The Reds invited him to their spring training in 2014. He played for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in 2014 and spent 2015 with the Louisville Bats. The Reds promoted him to the major leagues for the first time in April 2015.
He made his MLB debut for the Reds on April 29, 2015, when they played against the Milwaukee Brewers. Michael signed a one-year contract worth $6.75 million with the Los Angeles Angels in November 2021.
