What Is Ramadan?

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community.

The event is been observed by Ghanaians from  Saturday, Apr 2, 2022, and ends on Sunday, May 1, 2022, and is been celebrated with  Community iftars and Community prayers as well.

Ramadan is somehow related to  Eid al-Fitr and also Laylat al-Qadr. The event bis been done annual by the muslims.

The word Ramadan derives from the Arabic root R-M-Ḍ (ر-م-ض) “scorching heat”,[27] which is the Classical Arabic verb “ramiḍa (رَمِضَ)” meaning “become intensely hot – become burning; become scorching; be blazing; be glowing”.

How does Ramadan work?

Ramadan is a form of annual fasting and prayers that is been done by the Muslim community to cleanse themselves of all their sins and ask for God’s blessing.

The performing of Ramadan involves the 6 am to 6 pm prayers that are been done at the beginning of the morning prayers after which food is eaten before the fast starts at 6 am.

The first and last dates of Ramadan are determined by the lunar Islamic calendar.

Ramadan has a good effect on the bodies of Muslims that participate in it as it helps  increase insulin sensitivity and reducing insulin resistance
