The New England Patriots selected Stevenson in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 120th overall. On May 19, 2021, he agreed to a four-year rookie deal with New England.
Stevenson had a breakthrough performance against the Carolina Panthers in week 9 after seeing little action in the first eight games of the season.
He finished with 106 all-purpose yards, including a 41-yard reception on a short out-pattern that helped the Patriots score a touchdown.
However, he later suffered a concussion and had to leave the game. Stevenson was designated the starter the next week against the Cleveland Browns since usual starter Damien Harris was out due to a concussion sustained the week before.
He gained 100 yards on the ground and added another 14 yards through receptions to help New England win 45-7. Stevenson continued to lead the club in running in Week 11’s Thursday Night Football game against the Atlanta Falcons.
He shared runs with starter Damien Harris and finished with 69 yards on 12 attempts in the 25-0 victory. In week 13’s victory over the Titans, he gained 46 yards on nine carries.
In week 14’s run-heavy victory over the Bills, in which the Patriots only attempted three passes, he carried the majority of the load, gaining 78 yards on 24 carries. He continued to play as the team’s backup running back to starter Harris.
