Teoscar José Hernández is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder who currently plays for the Toronto Blue Jays in Major League Baseball.
He was born on October 15, 1992, in the Dominican Republic (MLB). Earlier in his career, he was a member of the Houston Astros.
In February of 2011, Hernández became a member of the Houston Astros organization after signing a contract as an international free agent.
During the years 2012 and 2013, he was a member of the South Atlantic League’s Gulf Coast Astros at Rookie-level and the Lexington Legends at the Class-A level. At the 2015 WBSC Premier12,
he will be competing for the Dominican Republic national baseball team and was chosen to be on the roster. The Astros brought him up to their main league club on August 12, 2016, and he made his debut that day.
On July 31, 2017, Francisco Liriano was sent to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Teoscar Hernandez, who had been acquired from the Houston Astros.
Hernández hit his first home run with the Blue Jays on September 10, 2017, as the team was competing against the Detroit Tigers. He played in 134 games for the Blue Jays and had a batting average of.239 along with 22 home runs.
Hernandez was recognized as the best right fielder in the American League and was awarded the Silver Slugger. He will take the field for the American League in the 2021 All-Star Game as the league’s starting pitcher.
