What is Toby Keith Health Condition?
According to a tweet from Toby Keith on Sunday, he was diagnosed with stomach cancer last fall and has been undergoing treatment for the past six months, as he revealed to his fans.
“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation, and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover, and relax,” Keith, 60, tweeted.
“I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait,” the singer tweeted, signing off with “T.”
After hearing the news that Keith would not be performing at the Ohio State Fair the following month, the announcement was made.
Other performances are scheduled to take place over the next several weeks on his website in the states of Illinois and Michigan; however, there is no indication that these shows will be canceled just yet on his website.
According to the American Cancer Society, diagnoses of stomach cancer account for 1.5 percent of all new cancer diagnoses in the United States each year, and men have a higher risk of developing it over the course of their lifetime.
The American Cancer Society also notes that the average age of diagnosis is 68 years old and that diagnoses of stomach cancer have been decreasing over the course of the past decade.
