On September 21,1992, in the American city of Wichita, Kansas, he was conceived. He is 147 kg in weight and 1.98 meters tall. While attending Circle High School in Towanda, Kansas, Phillips participated in high school football. He received five stars on Scout.com and four stars on Rivals.com, respectively.
After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the University of Oklahoma, where from 2011 to 2014 he played collegiate football for the Oklahoma Sooners squad. In the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins made him their selection with the 52nd overall choice. In October 2018, the Dolphins released him.
On October 3, 2018, the Buffalo Bills claimed Phillips off waivers. In March 2019, he extended his employment with the Bills. On April 6, 2020, Phillips and the Arizona Cardinals reached a three-year contract agreement. On September 2, 2021, Phillips was placed on injured reserve to start the season. He goes into effect on October 16, 2021. The Cardinals released Phillips in March 2022. In the same month, he agreed to a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills.
