Calais Campbell is a professional football player with the National Football League’s Baltimore Ravens as a defensive end. He played football when a student at South High School in Denver, Colorado. He was rated as the tenth-best strongside defensive end by Rivals.com and the seventh-best defensive end by Scout.com.
He was widely regarded as one of the nation’s top defensive end prospects. He finished his career at South High School with a state-record 57 sacks. He attended the University of Miami and played for the Miami Hurricanes after graduating from high school. He earned a sociology degree from the university and graduated.
He recorded 50 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, three passes defended and one interception in his final season with the Hurricanes in 2007. Campbell was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. In 2008, he was selected as the sixth defensive end.
He signed a four-year, $3.40 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals in July 2008, with $1.68 million guaranteed and a $484,500 signing bonus. The Jaguars dealt Campbell to the Baltimore Ravens in March 2020. He re-signed with the Ravens in April 2022 for a two-year, $12.5 million contract.
