Jonnu Andre Smith, a tight end for the New England Patriots in the National Football League, was born on August 22, 1995. The Tennessee Titans picked him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft after he played college football for FIU. He joined the Patriots after spending four years with the Titans.
Smith’s parents, Wayne and Karen Smith reared him in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the youngest of six kids. Karen was compelled by nurses to give him a name right away in the hospital because of rules. She prayed before choosing the name Jonnu. At age 5, he started participating in Pop Warner football.
Growing up in Philadelphia, Smith faced many hardships. His family lacked the resources to relocate after his brother was detained and one of his friends was killed on the streets. He relocated to Florida’s Ocala with his maternal aunt and uncle for his own safety.
He began playing football in high school, and despite not being a highly sought-after recruit, he was given a scholarship to Florida International.
