Tobias attended Winter Haven High School located in his hometown where he played baseball for the school’s baseball team. He was drafted out of high school by the Baltimore Orioles in the 6th round of the 2016 MLB draft.
He signed with them and began his professional career that same season with the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Orioles and spent the 2017 season with the Aberdeen IronBirds of the Class A Short Season New York–Penn League.
The Tampa Bay Rays purchased his contract from the Orioles in July 2017. The 2020 minor league season got cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic so he did not play a game that season. During the 2021 season, he played with the Montgomery Biscuits of the Double-A South and was promoted to the Durham Bulls of the Triple-A East.
The Rays traded him to the Cleveland Guardians in November 2021 and he has been playing with the Guardians since.
