Dominican professional baseball shortstop Jeremy Joan Pea was born on September 22, 1997, in Santo Domingo de Guzmán and Ciudad Trujillo, the capital and largest city of the Dominican Republic and the largest metropolitan area in the Caribbean by population.
He now plays for the Houston Astros in Major League Baseball. Pea is of Dominican descent (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2022.
At the age of nine, Pea and his family emigrated from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to Providence, Rhode Island. As a teen, he played baseball, and ran track and cross-country at Classical High School in Providence, Rhode Island.
He batted.352 as a junior in 2014. He had a.390 batting average and two home runs as a senior in 2015. The Atlanta Braves took him in the 39th round of the 2015 MLB draft, but he chose to attend the University of Maine instead,
where he continued to play collegiate baseball. Pea made the American Eastern Conference All-Rookie Team as a freshman in Maine in 2016, batting.283 with one home run, 15 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.
Plymouth Pilgrims were his team that summer in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. During his second season in 2017, Pea slugged.319 with six home runs and 32 RBIs while playing in 54 games.
After the season, he played for the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Baseball League, where he was named an All-Star. With 54 games played and five home runs and 28 RBIs in 2018, as a junior, he was named to the American East Second-Team and earned All-Academic accolades.
