The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans. The Saints compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division.
From 2000 till 2005, Jim Haslett was in charge of the company. In his first season as head coach, he led the team to the playoffs in 2000 and earned the franchise’s first-ever victory in the postseason with a victory over the St. Louis Rams, who were the reigning Super Bowl champions.
The following week, the club suffered a defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings. General Manager Randy Mueller was terminated by Benson without any explanation in the offseason between the 2001 and 2002 NFL seasons, despite having won the award for NFL Executive of the Year in 2000.
The Saints did not make the playoffs in either 2001 or 2002, despite the fact that in the latter year they had the distinction of beating the team that would go on to win Super Bowl XXXVII, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in both of their regular-season meetings. This made them only the second team in the history of the NFL to accomplish this feat.
Who did the Saints release today?
The New Orleans Saints have decided to part ways with two members of their defensive unit: defensive tackle Jalen Dalton and cornerback KeiVarae Russell.
In 2019, Dalton made his debut in the National Football League (NFL) as an undrafted rookie from North Carolina. Initially, he signed with the Chicago Bears, but the team cut ties with him at the conclusion of training camp after he had already participated in four preseason games.
During the 2019 season, he was a member of the practice squad for the Chicago Bears. Toward the end of the year, the Saints signed him and added him to their practice squad.
After the conclusion of the season, Dalton signed a futures contract in order to be eligible for a berth on the 2020 roster.
