Mitch Thomas Keller is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the United States.
Keller was selected in the second round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates out of Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
On June 14, 2014, he signed with the Pirates for a signing bonus of $1,000,000. He had committed to play baseball for the North Carolina Tar Heels in college.
Keller debuted with the Gulf Coast League Pirates, where he spent the whole 2014 season, throwing to a 1.98 ERA in 27+13 innings.
Keller pitched for the Bristol Pirates in 2015, going 0–3 with a 5.49 ERA in six starts. In 23 starts with the West Virginia Power in 2016, he was 8–5 with a 2.46 ERA. At the end of the season, he pitched in one game for the Bradenton Marauders.
Keller started the 2017 season with Bradenton. In August, he was promoted to the Altoona Curve, where he concluded the season with a 2–2 record and 3.12 ERA in six appearances after going 6–3 with a 3.14 ERA in 15 starts.
Keller was regarded as Pittsburgh’s top prospect by MLB.com heading into the 2018 season. He started the season with Altoona and was later promoted to the Indianapolis Indians.
During the season, he also pitched in one game for Bradenton. He was 12–4 with a 3.48 ERA in 25 starts with the three teams. After the season, the Pirates added him to their 40-man roster.
Keller kicked off the new year in Indianapolis. On May 26, he was promoted to the major leagues and made his major league debut against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park, giving up six earned runs in four innings while walking two and striking out seven.
