Nathan Shepherd plays defensive tackle for the New York Jets of the National Football League and is a professional American football player. He is 1.93 m tall and 143 kg in weight. He was a member of the Ajax/Pickering Dolphins Football Club when he was younger.
He completed his secondary school there at Clarke Richardson Collegiate. After redshirting his first season of NCAA football at Simon Fraser University, he was permitted to start every game as a defensive end. He attended school for two years before quitting because he could no longer afford the fees.
He soon heard from Fort Hays State University and was able to cover his first semester of tuition before being offered an athletic scholarship. He was named the 2017 MIAA Defensive Player of the Year after the regular season. He was picked up by the New York Jets in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He agreed to a $4.87 million, four-year deal with the Jets in May 2018, which included a $987,724 signing bonus.
Shepherd was given a six-game suspension on September 10 for breaking the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. On October 29, 2019, he was removed from suspension, and on November 1 of the same year, he was made active. He received a one-year contract extension in March 2022.
