American football linebacker Brandon Nathaniel Smith plays for the National Football League’s Carolina Panthers (NFL). He played college football at Penn State.
In Louisa, Virginia, Smith attended Louisa County High School. He was named Virginia’s Gatorade Football Player of the Year in 2018 as a senior. He participated in the Under Armour All-America Game of 2019. Smith made a commitment to play college football at Penn State.
Smith participated in the final season of Mark Lee Fischer’s tenure as the football team’s head coach while attending Louisa County High School.
2019 saw Smith make 13 appearances in games while registering 13 tackles for Penn State. He started all nine games as a sophomore in 2020 and finished with 37 tackles, two sacks, and one interception. In 2021, Smith came back and started his junior season.
Although Brandon Smith is a very skilled linebacker with starter potential, he is constrained by his lack of coverage knowledge and his difficulties at the tackle point. Smith intends to major in criminology and eventually wants to work for the FBI.
