MaxPrep’s All-American honours were bestowed upon Vallejo during his senior year of high school when he was competing for Nevada Union High School.

Pro Football Focus lauded his speed and commended his ability to disrupt plays in the defensive backfield. However, in their scouting report for his senior season, they criticized his lack of size and the low effectiveness with which he tackled opponents.
