The Washington Football Team is an American football professional team headquartered in the Washington metropolitan region. The squad participates in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the NFC East division and was previously known as the Washington Redskins.
The team’s home games are held at FedExField in Landover, Maryland, and the team’s offices and training facilities are located in Ashburn, Virginia. The squad has played over 1,000 games and is one of just five in the NFL with over 600 wins.
The Redskins were the first NFL team to have a marching band and a fight song, “Hail to the Redskins.” According to Forbes, Washington is the NFL’s fifth-most valuable club, valued at over US$4.2 billion.
The Boston Braves were created in 1932 and changed their name to the Redskins the following year. In 1937, the franchise relocated to Washington, D.C. The squad won the NFL title games in 1937 and 1942, as well as Super Bowls XVII, XXII, and XXVI.
Washington has finished second in the league six times, losing the championship games in 1936, 1940, 1943, and 1945, as well as Super Bowls VII and XVIII.

In 1999, Snyder purchased the franchise of the Washington Football Team from Jack Kent Cooke’s estate, which was then known as the Redskins. Snyder Communications was started by him in 1988.
