The stadium was established in 1984. Prior to it, the Tigers had been anchored to their playing days at the intersection of Michigan and Trumbull Avenues in Detroit’s Corktown area since Bennett Park’s opening in 1896. The construction of a new ballpark, to be erected on the same site, was then ordered by Tigers owner Frank Navin. Then, in 1912, the ballpark that is now known as Tiger Stadium was inaugurated.

 

In October of 1997, there was a ceremony to mark the official start of construction on the new stadium. On April 11, 2000, a game against the Seattle Mariners was played on the field for the first time after that.

In the year 2014, the Tigers disclosed a renovation idea which was worth 4 million dollars at the time. The renovation was to cover and enhance the Comerica Park’s Pepsi Porch.
