Amy Beth Schumer is an actress and stand-up comedian from the United States. In 2007, she made an appearance on the fifth season of Last Comic Standing. She was the creator, co-producer, and star of the sketch comedy series Inside Amy Schumer from 2013 to 2016. She starred in the comedy film I Feel Pretty in 2018.

Sandra Jane (née Jones) and Gordon David Schumer, who ran a baby-furniture company, gave birth to Schumer on June 1, 1981, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City, New York.
Schumer’s father was born in Ukraine to a Jewish family. Senator Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader, is his second cousin. Her mother converted to Judaism before her marriage, despite coming from a Protestant family with deep New England roots. Schumer was raised as a Jew and claims to have faced antisemitism as a child.
Schumer’s family was wealthy during her childhood thanks to the success of her father’s Manhattan furniture company. Her father’s business failed and he went bankrupt when she was nine years old, and either then or later (sources differ), her father was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Her parents split a few years afterwards. Schumer attended South Side High School in Rockville Centre, New York, after moving to Long Island with her mother. Amy’s father has had multiple sclerosis since she was a child, and he now lives in an assisted living facility.
