The ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin is a Silicon Valley entrepreneur and attorney who reportedly had an affair with Elon Musk.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Nicole Shanahan allegedly had a brief affair with the Tesla CEO in December, which led her husband to file for divorce and sever his friendship with Musk.
Shanahan was well-known for founding ClearAccessIP, a tech company that uses artificial intelligence to manage patents, before grabbing attention for being at the center of a love triangle involving two of the richest men in the world. In 2020, she sold the business.
She is also the founder and president of the Bia-Echo Foundation, a charitable organization that supports studies on fertility and reproductive longevity in women in their mid-30s, advocates for a sustainable future, and advocates for criminal justice reform.
Having trouble getting pregnant is a personal struggle for Shanahan, who spoke candidly about it at the opening of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging’s Center for Female Reproductive Longevity and Equality.
“I decided, or so I thought at the time, to take matters into my own hands and freeze embryos, like many women who are not quite ready to start a family in their early 30s.
“I discovered, however, that I was not nearly as unshakeable as I thought I was after three unsuccessful attempts to create embryos and thirty-two visits to in vitro fertilization clinics throughout the Bay Area,” she said.
