Over the last few days, Internet users have been astonished by a rumor that there is a woman who is 399 years old.
Several videos and claims appeared claiming that this woman, who is about 400 years old, is still alive, while similar social media posts said it was a 169-year-old guy.
This rumor has subsequently been debunked, as the person featured in these videos and reports is actually someone else entirely.
Who Is The Oldest Person In The Word 2022 (Updated)
According to CNN, Kane Tanaka, who is 119 years old, is the world’s oldest person living, as her great-granddaughter said in a Twitter tweet on her birthday on January 1 with the caption:
“This is an outstanding accomplishment. I hope you continue to live life joyfully and to the fullest now that you’re 119 years old, [Kane Tanaka] ”
Kane Tanaka has lived through many historic events, including World War One, World War Two, and the 1918 Spanish flu, according to the caption.
Birthdays are always a reason to celebrate, but Kane Tanaka’s was extra special. The Japanese supercentenarian turned 119 on January 1, 2022, extending her reign as the world’s oldest living person for another year.
Since reaching 116 in 2019, Tanaka has held the Guinness World Record. She also set the all-time Japanese age record in September 2020, clocking in at a whopping 117 years and 261 days!
Tanaka got a number of gifts to commemorate her special day, but the most memorable came from the Coca-Cola Company.
The Coca-Cola company sent the 119-year-old two bottles of her favorite beverage, along with personalized labels that included her name and age.
But life they say has its own twist. Kane Tanaka, who was born on January 2, 1903, died on Monday, according to NHK.
According to the broadcaster, she died of old age on April 19 in a hospital in Fukuoka, western Japan.
“Thank you to everyone who supported us,” Ms. Tanaka’s family said in a tweet, confirming her death.
Her relatives had stated in a tweet dated April 13, 2022, that she had lately been “hospitalized and discharged repeatedly,” but that she was still enjoying chocolate and fizzy drinks.
