The Washington Football Team is a professional American football team in the National Football League based in Washington, D.C. The squad is a member of the NFC East division and was previously known as the Washington Redskins.
Coach Ron Rivera
Ronald Eugene Rivera, also known as Riverboat Ron, is the head coach of the National Football League’s Washington Redskins. He was born on January 7, 1962. Rivera was an All-American linebacker for the Golden Bears during his college football career at the University of California, Berkeley, in the early 1980s, before becoming a coach
He was drafted in the second round of the 1984 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears, and he spent his entire nine-year professional career with the team, including as a member of the 1985 Super Bowl XX team.
Rivera started his coaching career with the Bears in 1997 as a quality control coach. After two years as a linebackers coach with the Philadelphia Eagles, he returned to the Bears as defensive coordinator in 2004.
The Bears made it to Super Bowl XLI during his time as head coach. He worked as a linebackers coach for the San Diego Chargers for a year before becoming the team’s defensive coordinator for three years.
He has been one great impact on the team’s fortunes over the years.
