Dustin Johnson is an American professional golfer. He has won two major championships, the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club with a 4-under-par score of 276 and the 2020 Masters Tournament with a record score of 268, 20-under-par.
In 2011, he tied for second place at the Open Championship, and in 2015, he finished second at the U.S. Open. Only Tiger Woods has won more World Golf Championships, and he is the first player to win all four of the tournaments.
In June 2022, Johnson resigned from the PGA Tour in order to join LIV Golf. Johnson became only the third player in PGA Tour history to win a tournament title in each of his first 13 seasons, behind Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus (14).
Johnson has one of the longest drives on the PGA Tour, and he was the leader in driving distance in 2015. He was consistently placed in the top 10 from 2008 to 2020.
Johnson became the world’s top-ranked golfer in February 2017 and held that position for 64 straight weeks, the fifth-longest streak of consecutive number one ranking in the sport’s history.
In 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, he returned to the top spot and has spent more than 130 weeks there.
Why Did Dustin Johnson Resign From PGA Tour?
In order to compete in the LIV Golf Invitational Series, two-time major champion Dustin Johnson has relinquished his PGA Tour membership.
The eight-event $255 million (£200 million) series, which begins Thursday at Centurion Club near London, will feature the former world number one.
In light of the PGA Tour’s threats to fine and maybe ban players who sign up for LIV Golf, Johnson’s decision is a big reversal.
