Yennsy Manuel Diaz (born November 15, 1996) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher who now plays for the New York Mets. He has played for the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Mets in Major League Baseball (MLB).
On July 3, 2014, Diaz signed as an international free agent with the Blue Jays. He started the 2015 season with the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League Blue Jays before being promoted to the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays for the final month.
Diaz had a 4–4 win-loss record, a 2.88 earned run average (ERA), and 58 strikeouts in 5613 innings thrown. Diaz was traded to the New York Mets on January 27, 2021, along with Sean Reid-Foley and Josh Winckowski, for Steven Matz.
Diaz will divide the 2021 season between Triple-A Syracuse and the New York Mets. Diaz was 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 15 outings for Triple-A Syracuse. Diaz appeared in 20 games for the Major League New York Mets, finishing 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA and 21 strikeouts.
The Mets designated Diaz for assignment on April 7, 2022, following the acquisition of Adonis Medina. On April 11, he cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A.
