Zachary Harris Johnson is a pro golfer from the United States.

Johnson has 12 PGA Tour victories, including two major tournaments, the 2007 Masters and the 2015 Open Championship to his name.

Johnson will captain the United States Ryder Cup team against Europe in Rome, Italy in 2023.

Johnson, the eldest of Dave and Julie Johnson’s three children, was born in Iowa City, Iowa, and raised in Cedar Rapids.

Johnson, who participated in a variety of sports as a child (baseball, basketball, football, and soccer), began playing golf at the age of 10 and honed his skills at Elmcrest Country Club.

He was the second-best golfer on the Regis High School team and led them to the Iowa 3A state championship in 1992, his sophomore year.

Johnson enrolled at Drake University in Des Moines after graduating from high school in 1994.

He guided the Drake golf team to three NCAA regional meets and two Missouri Valley championships as the Bulldogs’ number two player.

Tom Harris, Johnson’s uncle, participated in the 1975 NAIA national tournament.

Johnson went pro in 1998 and competed on the developmental tour circuit, where he won the final three events of the 2001 regular season on the Buy.com Tour (now the Korn Ferry Tour), the Hooters Tour, and the now-defunct Prairie Golf Tour.

He received an automatic entry to the PGA Tour after finishing first on the Nationwide Tour’s money list in 2003 with then-record earnings of $ 494,882.
