For the Denver Broncos football team in the National Football League, Zach McCloud is a linebacker. Football was his sport of choice while attending Santaluces High School. He rejected admission offers from other universities in favor of enrolling at the University of Miami, where he would play collegiate football for the Miami Hurricanes.
He started at linebacker in 11 of the 13 games he played in as a true freshman in 2016, and he made 37 tackles. It was an excellent debut season for him. Additionally, he recorded four quarterback hurries, two pass breakups, one blocked punt, 3.5 tackles for loss, and two pass breakups. He played in all 13 of the games as a sophomore in 2017, started 11, and finished with 48 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks.
He also contributed three quarterback hurries and one turnover that was caused. He was one of the team’s key defensive players during that campaign and was named ACC Co-Linebacker of the Week once. He took part in all 13 of his games as a junior in 2018 and made nine starts. He made 44 total tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss towards the end of the season.
He participated in four games in 2019 and made one start, finishing with nine tackles and one PBU. He started eight of his nine games as a redshirt senior in 2020 and was one of the team’s four captains before the season. He made a total of 27 tackles by season’s end. After the 2021 NFL Draft, he was signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent.
