Who Won Best R&B Song?
Silk Sonic won the 2022 Grammy Award for Best R&B Song today. Bruno Mars and Anderson perform “Leave the Door Open.”
H.E.R. (“Damage”), SZA (“Good Days”), Jazmine Sullivan (“Pick Up Your Feelings”), and Giveon (“Heartbreak Anniversary”) were among the tracks that Paak outperformed.
Silk Sonic released their first album An Evening with Silk Sonic in November, after their live premiere at the Grammys in 2021.
The debut song from the American super-duo Silk Sonic consists of Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak is titled “Leave the Door Open.”
It was released as the lead single from Silk Sonic’s debut studio album An Evening with Silk Sonic on March 5, 2021, by Aftermath Entertainment and Atlantic Records.
The song was written by D’Mile and Brody Brown, with Mars and D’Mile handling the production.
“Leave the Door Open” is a soul, R&B, and pop song from Philadelphia, influenced by a peaceful storm. A “detailed sensual invitation” is described in the song’s passionate lyrics.
“Leave the Door Open” was well-received by critics, who praised both the vocalists’ vocals and the song’s arrangement.
At tonight’s presentation, “Leave the Door Open” also took home the awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best R&B Performance. The group will perform at the Grammys in 2022.
Those Record and Song of the Year awards came as a bit of a shock, especially considering “Leave the Door Open” was up against megahits like Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License,” Lil Nas X’s “Montero,” and Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More.”
Mars, on the other hand, is a real Recording Academy favorite, having won 14 of the past 17 Grammys he’s been nominated for, dating back to Unorthodox Jukebox’s Best Pop Vocal Album triumph in 2014.
