Dominican professional baseball pitcher Carlos Miguel Vargas is currently signed with the Cleveland Guardians organization. Vargas hails from the Dominican Republic.
On July 2, 2016, the Indians made the decision to sign Vargas to their roster as an international free agent.
On November 20, 2020, the Indians exercised their option to purchase Vargas’ contract, so adding him to their 40-man roster.
Vargas underwent ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction in April 2021, often known as Tommy John surgery. As a result, he was sidelined for the entirety of the 2021 season.
Before the start of the 2016 season, 17-year-old Carlos Vargas inked a contract to play for the Seattle Mariners.
During that season, he was a member of the DSL Mariners and hit .242 with 11 doubles, 7 home runs, and 62 total games played.
It was a good debut, and it grabbed the eye of the Tampa Bay Rays, who acquired him in a trade on January 11, 2017, along with OF Mallex Smith and fellow prospect Ryan Yarbrough in exchange for P Drew Smyly.
The trade also included the return of Drew Smyly. Emilio Vargas is his brother, and so is this individual.
