2022 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby

The 2022 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby was a home run hitting contest between eight batters from Major League Baseball (MLB). The derby was held on July 18, 2022, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, CA, the site of the 2022 MLB All-Star Game.

Juan Soto, who would go on to win the competition, hit a home run in Round 1 that reached a distance of 482 feet (146.91 meters), making it the longest of the 291 home runs that were hit by the eight competitors combined.

Soto became the second youngest player to ever win the derby with his victory. He was 23 years and 266 days old at the time of his victory, making him one day older than Juan González was when he won in 1993.

This was the third derby to incorporate tie-breaking rounds since the format was changed in 2015. Albert Pujols and Kyle Schwarber went to a swing-off in the first round.

The bracket will consist of a single round of elimination, for a total of three rounds. In every clash, the player with the higher seed will always hit second.

In the first and second rounds, the competitors get three minutes, and in the final round, they have two minutes, to hit as many home runs as they can in the allotted time. When the first pitch is thrown, the timer starts, and the round is over when the timer reaches zero.
