Where is Alvin Kamara Originally From?
Alvin Mentian Kamara is originally from the Liberian capital of Monrovia. His mother, who is also of Liberian descent, fled the Liberian civil war, which began in 1989, in order to seek asylum in the United States of America.
Alvin Mentian was born and reared in the Georgia town of Norcross.
He went to Norcross High School, which is located in Norcross, Georgia. He was a member of the Blue Devils football team throughout his high school years. In 2011, as a junior, he carried for 1,300 yards and scored 17 touchdowns on the ground.
As a senior in 2012, he rushed for 2,264 yards and 26 touchdowns while also catching 22 passes for 286 yards and five more scores, helping his high school win its first state championship in football.
Kamara was voted Georgia’s Mr. Football by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, was chosen Class 6A Player of the Year by the Georgia Sports Writers Association, and was named to the first team of the Georgia Sports Writers Association’s All-State squad.
In addition, he has been selected to represent the United States at the 2013 Under Armour All-America Game.
Kamara was a highly touted running back prospect coming out of high school. In 2012, 247Composite ranked him as the No. 1 all-purpose player in the country, No. 5 in Georgia, and No. 42 overall.
