What Happened to Aaron Hicks?
It is anticipated that Hicks will miss the remainder of the 2021 season due to surgery on his left wrist.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone stated on Thursday that Hicks would be out for the remainder of the 2021 season due to surgery on his left wrist.
The center fielder has a torn sheath in his wrist, and he should be out of action for four to six months as a result of the injury.
“It appears that he will miss the entire season,” Boone remarked. “In this case, it’s not something you want to hurry back into. As a result, I believe it will continue throughout the winter.”
A 32-game season is possible if Hicks is forced to miss the rest of the year. Since then, Hicks has posted a.194 batting average (21 for 108) with four home runs, 13 runs, and 30 strikeouts.
For the switch-hitter, this is not the first time the season ends with a depressingly low number of games played. Hicks has appeared in slightly over 82 games in each of his six seasons with the Yankees, and he has only appeared in more than 100 games twice.
Unless they make a deal to add another outfielder, the New York Mets will be forced to rely heavily on veteran Brett Gardner in center field in his absence. He has been in the Yankees’ starting lineup nearly every game since Hicks’ injury earlier this month.
