James Wade is an English professional darts player who became the youngest player to win the major PDC title at the age of 24 at the 2007 World Matchplay. He is currently playing in the professional Darts CoporationPDC.
Born on April 6, 1983, the 39-year-old darts player has won eleven major PDC and is third in the all-time list behind Phill Taylor and Michael Van Gerwan.
Wade started playing darts at a young age but he took it seriously when he was 14 years old. He competed and won the Basingstoke Open which was his first competition in darts and later went on to compete for England at the youth level.
When he was 18, he managed to reach the finals of the British classic in 2001 but he lost to John Walton but won in the Swiss Open the following year.
Wade made his television debut in 2003 at the BDO World Championship but lost 2-3 in the first round to Dennis Habour.
Wade was popularly known as ‘the Gladiator’ during his career in 2006 after he made nine-dart exploits that year to 009 – which was a take on James Bond’s 007. He used the nickname till he changed it in 2007.
He had been changing his nicknames since then but he has the latest name which is ‘The machine’ since he won with nine-darts finishes on November 20, 2008, with nine darters two 180s, then T20.T19 and D1 against Gary Anderson. It is, however, a norm for darts players to have sobriquet or nicknames which they can use as stage names.
