Alec Daniel Bohm is an American professional baseball third baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball. He was born on August 3, 1996.
Bohm was a great hitter for Roncalli Catholic High School in Omaha, Nebraska, however, he was not taken in the 2015 MLB Draft. Instead, he elected to play collegiate baseball with the Wichita State Shockers after graduating from high school.
In his three years with the Shockers, Bohm was a solid offensive player with a batting average of over.300.
Bohm also played collegiate summer baseball in the Coastal Plain League and the Cape Cod Baseball League outside of Wichita State.
In the 2018 MLB draft, the Phillies picked Bohm third overall, and he signed with the organization in June. The Phillies had hoped to have him reach Class A by the end of 2018, but a knee ailment forced them to postpone that goal.
After the COVID-19 pandemic prompted the postponement of the Minor League Baseball season, Bohm played in the All-Star Futures Game in 2019 and began the 2020 season at an alternate training location.
In August, the Phillies brought up Bohm from that training facility, and he ended the season as the team’s starting third baseman.
Bohm started the 2021 MLB season at third base for the Phillies after a good rookie season, but a series of defensive mistakes and a weak bat pushed him down to the minors in August.
