Andrew Benintendi plays professional baseball for the Kansas City Royals baseball team of the Major League Baseball (MLB) as their Left fielder. He was born July 6, 1994, in Cincinnati, Ohio in the United States to Chris Benintendi,l and Jill Benintendi.
Andrew began his amateur career at Madeira High School in Madeira, Ohio. He also played basketball in high school although he had more passion for baseball. After high school, he was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 31st round of the MLB draft but he did not sign with them and instead decided to play college baseball for the Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team at the University of Arkansas.
In 2015, he was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the seventh overall selection of the 2015 MLB draft. He signed with the Bostons and received a $3.6 million signing bonus. He made his professional debut that year with the Lowell Spinners of the Class A-Short Season New York–Penn League.
In August 2016, he was promoted to the major leagues and he began the 2017 baseball season a part of the Bostons Opening Day roster. In February 2020, the Bostons signed Andrew to a two-year contract worth $10 million.
The Bostons traded Andrew to the Kansas City Royals in February 2021. He has been with them to date.
