On Thursday, the Oakland Athletics and the Detroit Tigers will play each other, and the first pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. Eastern Time (ET). The game will take place at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan, and spectators will only be able to watch it on their local television stations or by subscribing to MLB.tv.
James Kaprielian, a right-handed pitcher for the A’s, will be making his third start of the season, while Beau Breiske, a right-handed pitcher for the Tigers, will be making his fourth start.
The A’s are also swinging a lot of dead wood (13-19), but that was more to be expected after the big roster overhaul they underwent over the offseason. The A’s have the poorest on-base percentage and OPS in all of Major League Baseball at.268 and.584, respectively.
That on-base percentage during a team’s first 32 games is one of the poorest seen in the major leagues since the live-ball era began in 1920. Sheldon Neuse, an infielder, has proven to be one of the better free-agent additions that went largely unnoticed over the winter.
Through 107 at-bats, the 27-year-old holds the lead on the team with a batting average of.290 and an OPS of.350.
The Tigers now have a record of 9-22, which is shockingly poor. Despite having made a number of high-profile additions over the winter and having promoted one of their best prospects, Spencer Torkelson, the Tigers still have the poorest record in the American League.
The offense has been terrible, finishing dead last in Major League Baseball (MLB) in runs scored (85), home runs (12), and slugging percentage (.371).
Torkelson has not collected a hit in his last 32 at-bats, he has an OPS of.532, and it is possible that he requires some additional seasoning in the lower leagues.
Austin Meadows is the only everyday player for the Tigers who have hit over the league average this season (128 OPS+), and he is the only player in the Tigers’ lineup.

Athletics vs Tigers: Predictions
The A’s have the upper hand offensively and have the stronger starting pitcher in Kaprielian, but both teams’ offenses are struggling. The Tigers have scored seven runs over the course of their previous five games, with Tuesday’s victory accounting for six of those runs.
