Former American basketball player Bill Russell, whose full name is William Felton Russell, reportedly passed away today, July 31, 2022. He played center for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association from 1956 to 1969 as a professional basketball player. He was identified as having been born in West Monroe, Louisiana in the United States, on February 12, 1934.
Considered widely, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, he is known to be a five-time NBA Most Valuable Player as well as a 12-time NBA All-Star. He claimed the centerpiece of the Celtics dynasty that won a number of 11 NBA championships during his spanning career for a period of 13 years.
It will interest you to know that, he and one Henri Richard of the National Hockey League. They are known to be tied for the record of the most championship won at the time. He was known to have led the San Francisco Dons to a two consecutive NCAA championships in the year 1955 and 1956. He had the privilege to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
