Bobby Joseph Wagner is an American football linebacker for the National Football League’s Seattle Seahawks (NFL). He attended Utah State University and was taken in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks.
Wagner played high school football for the Titans at Colony High School in Ontario, California. As a senior in 2007, he had 125 tackles (92 solo, 33 assisted), including four sacks.
He also had 37 catches for 595 yards and 11 touchdowns as a tight end. He was named to the CIF Central Division All-Star team as well as the Mount Baldy League All-Star team.
He was chosen to the All-San Bernardino County team and received second-team California Division 2 all-state accolades after leading the Titans to a CIF division title.
From 2008 through 2011, Wagner attended Utah State University. During his four-year career, he racked up 445 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and four interceptions.
Wagner was the WAC Defensive Player of the Year as a senior in 2011, with 147 tackles, four sacks, and two interceptions.
Wagner confirmed on January 14, 2012, that he had accepted his invitation to play in the 2012 Senior Bowl. Since Chris Cooley in 2004, he was the first Utah State player to play in the game.
Wagner had 22 combined tackles and an interception in the Senior Bowl on January 28, 2012, for Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier’s North squad, who defeated the South 23–13.
He was voted the MVP of the Senior Bowl as well as the North’s Most Outstanding Player.
