Brent Renauld was shot and killed by Russian forces in Irpin, close to Kyiv in Ukraine
According to the police force’s official website, Russian troops opened fire on the car of Brent Renaud and another journalist in Irpin, near the capital, on Sunday. According to the report, the injured journalist was brought to a hospital in Kyiv.
Renaud, 50, was described as a “skilled filmmaker who had contributed to The New York Times over the years” by a New York Times representative. He was not working for the publication at the time of his death, according to the report.
“Of course, the profession of journalism has hazards,” the police force stated. Nonetheless, US citizen Brent Renaud paid with his life in order to highlight the aggressor’s deception, cruelty, and ruthlessness.”
When asked about the reports, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan told CBS News that the US government would confer with the Ukrainians to ascertain what transpired and then “take appropriate repercussions.”
