Brittney Yevette Griner is a professional basketball player in the Women’s National Basketball Association for the Phoenix Mercury. She is the only athlete in NCAA basketball history to achieve 2,000 points while also blocking 500 shots.
Griner is 6 ft 9 in (206 cm) tall and has an arm span of 87.5 in. He wears a men’s US size 17 shoe (222 cm). She set a single-game record with seven dunks against Aldine High School as a senior.
On November 11, 2008, she had the most ever recorded by a female in a high school game in the United States, with 25 blocks against Houston Alief Hastings.
She also guided the Nimitz Cougars to the state championship game of Texas 5A girls basketball, where they were defeated 52–43 by Mansfield Summit High School.
Griner attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where he played basketball. Her 223 blocked shots as a freshman set an all-time single-season record.
Griner’s first triple-double came on December 16, 2009, when he had 34 points, 13 rebounds, and a Big 12 Conference-record 11 blocked shots.
She made the second and third dunks of her college career in January 2010, becoming only the second woman to do so in a single college game.
