Chris Matheson, a Labour MP in the United States, has been removed from his position in the House of Commons for a period of four weeks following allegations of “serious sexual misconduct.”
Under the Recall of MPs Act 2015, he is at risk of being removed from his seat in Parliament. The Independent Expert Panel made a recommendation on the 21st of October 2022 that he be suspended due to his extreme lack of professionalism.
Christian Matheson has represented the City of Chester as its Member of Parliament (MP) since 2015.
Christian Matheson grew up in the rural Cheshire countryside. He attended Manchester Grammar School and then moved on to the London School of Economics to complete his studies.
Chris Matheson was chosen as the Labour Party’s candidate for Chester’s parliamentary seat in June 2013. He ran against Conservative candidate Stephen Mosley and won by a margin of 93 votes in the May 7, 2015, general election.
Thus, after the election, his majority was the third smallest of any UK parliamentary constituency. July 2015 saw his appointment as a Commons Culture, Media and Sport Committee member.
Matheson’s last day in his role as Parliamentary Private Secretary for the Ministry of Justice was June 27. During the 2016 Labour Party (UK) leadership race, he put forth Owen Smith as a contender.
He increased his lead from 93 to 9,176 votes in the 2017 election, turning Chester from a seat that was very close to being won to one that is safely held.
With a lead of 6,164 votes over his challenger in the 2019 election, he was able to keep his seat.
Does Chris Matheson Have Children?
The rumours have it that Chris already has a family of his own, complete with children. He has two children with his wife, Katherine, and both of them currently attend schools in Chester.
He is married to Katherine, and the couple have two children together.
