Meet Charles Paul, The Father Of Chris Paul

Chris Paul, the point guard for the Phoenix Suns, is the son of Charles Edward Paul.

Paul was born in Anderson, South Carolina, but relocated to Winston-Salem when he was four years old with his family. Due to forced busing, he attended multiple schools before graduating from East Forsyth High School, where he played football, and then transferred to Winston-Salem State University. Paul worked in a Philips surveillance electronics company.

He was the manager of a local gym when he began participating in pickup games. Paul used his whole 401(k) to cover the costs of my brother and me participating in AAU basketball. In Chris’ junior and senior years at West Forsyth, he was an assistant coach, and Chris went on to become a McDonald’s All-American.
