Following the terrible death of David Johnson, stars from Coronation Street and Emmerdale have paid tribute to him. He aided in the development of many award-winning actors from the Manchester region.
Mr. Johnson created Oldham Theatrical Workshop in 1968 when he was 15 years old, and it swiftly grew to be Europe’s largest youth theatre group.
He founded the organization at the age of 15 and gave free programs to local youth. Suranne Jones, Michael Le Vell, Lisa Riley, and the late Anne Kirkbride were among the soap stars who learned under his tutelage.
Some celebrities have paid respect to David on social media.
Antony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully on the ITV serial, wrote the following: “I just received the most heartbreaking news. David Johnson, the founder, and director of the Oldham Theatre Workshop has died.
“He put a lot of us on the map and launched a lot of careers, both on and off the stage.
“He owes so lot to so many of us. I’m completely devastated. He had such an impact on my childhood, hence on my adult life. Those were the most formative years of my life. David, may you rest in peace. You were the most excellent x.”
