State Rep. David Wheeler, a popular Republican from Vestavia Hills, died this morning, the House of Representatives announced.
Wheeler, 72, a retired employee of Alabama Power Company, was in the final year of his first term in the Legislature and was unopposed in the Republican primary in his bid for a second term.
