Eduard Bazardo, a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball, was born on September 1, 1995.
Bazardo was signed as an international free agent by the Boston Red Sox in July 2014. In 2015 and 2016, he was a member of the Dominican Summer League (DSL) Red Sox.
He was a member of the DSL Red Sox and the Gulf Coast League (GCL) Red Sox in 2017. In 2018, he spent his time between the Class A Greenville Drive and the Class A Lowell Spinners.
In 2019, he split his time between the Salem Red Sox of Class A Advanced and the Portland Sea Dogs of Double-A.
Bazardo had a 23–19 record in 100 games (31 starts) with 10 saves in five minor-league seasons through 2019. In 310 innings pitched, he had a 2.55 ERA and 342 strikeouts.
Bazardo played in the Fall Instructional League after the 2020 minor league season was canceled. He was signed to Boston’s 40-man roster on November 20, 2020.
Prior to the start of the 2021 season, Bazardo was assigned to the team’s backup training site. He got promoted to the main leagues for the first time on April 14, 2021, for a doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins.
That day, he made his Major League Baseball debut, tossing a scoreless inning of relief. Bazardo was called up for one day on May 12 and pitched two scoreless innings.
With a right lat strain, he was placed on the 60-day injured list on July 5.
