Norman Cook known by his stage name Fatboy Slim is an English musician, DJ, and record producer who is most recognized for his work in the dance music genre. With his albums and hits from the 1990s.
He contributed to the popularization of the big beat genre. Cook holds the Guinness World Record for having the most number-one hits in the top 40 under various monikers. He has received nine MTV Video Music Awards and two Brit Awards for his work as a solo artist.
Born in Bromley, Kent, and raised in Reigate, Surrey, Norman Cook is best known for his work as a songwriter and producer. At the age of 18, he graduated from Brighton Polytechnic with a bachelor’s degree in English, politics, and sociology.
At the age of 18, he began honing his DJ talents and laying the groundwork for the emergence of hip-hop in Brighton. He and Paul Heaton, aka DJ Quentox, established the Stomping Pondfrogs in 1992.
Fatboy Slim collaborated with neighbouring Brighton band Rizzle Kicks on their single “Mama Do the Hump,” which was released in December 2011 and reached number 2 on the UK singles chart.
Cook has produced successful remixes for artists like Cornershop, the Beastie Boys, A Tribe Called Quest, and Wildchild, among others. In 2008, he created a remix of the single “Amazonas” for the charity Bottletop, which raised over $100,000.
While working at BBC Radio 1, Ball established a friendship with DJ and musician Norman Cook, which has continued to this day. In August 1999, the pair exchanged vows at Babington House in Somerset, England.
The couple separated in 2003 when Ball admitted to having an extramarital affair; however, they later reconciled. The couple has two children: a son named Woody and a girl named Nelly. On September 24, 2016, the pair announced their separation after 18 years of marriage, which was later followed by a divorce.
